Morning Discussion
Good morning Shackers, how are you doing today? It looks like CES has pretty much wrapped, and our ever vigilant Nick comes with tales of gadgets. I know, gadgets, CES, who would have thought? In other news, Valve brings another studio into the fold. I'm a bit surprised that Left4Dead is still considered a while out, but only because of how good it looked at QuakeCon07. So yeah, what are you guys playing this weekend?

I think its not too long. The problem is that its so fucking repetitive, which makes it seem longer than it is. When it first started, they said theres 9 assassinations, I thought "great this'll be over in no time".
Turns out, after about number 4 or 5 its too much of a chore for me to finish in any real timescale. I cant remember the last time I played it.
It's good, as mentioned above, for a rental and a quick play here and there. Its good with mates round, when you can take it in turns to fight off guards.

Company of Heroes.
Currently in the running for the best RTS I've ever played. I like it so much. The implementation of squad-based tactics in an easy to understand way is so good; In some ways it reminds me of my imagination of what the genre could be back when I played games like Dune 2. Incredible game. -

If you haven't played multiplayer, you haven't really gotten the full COD4 Halo 3 experience. :)
They're different experiences to be sure, some people will prefer COD4, some Halo 3, but I wouldn't write Halo 3 off if you have never played it on Live.-

You'd be surprised. Coop is a major draw in Halo games for good reason: It makes the campaigns significantly more fun.
There's unlockables in multiplayer with regards to different armor types, but it's all cosmetic... it doesn't affect gameplay in any way. I'm just saying that Halo has lived and died through its multiplayer, so don't knock it till you've tried it, that's all.

hrm i played that game once.
it was roughly ~40hours, i think you might be playing the expansion though. My quests did not vary that much, mostly made up of folding the Silken Bedsheets of +3 Shit Soak ability. This quest was located in the Laundry Dungeon of the County's Psychiatric Infirmary. I met comedy gold NPC's such as "Dove Lady" who would stand with arms outspread and birds would land swarm to her, like in the beginning of ace ventura.
Also most all of my party only had the Inebriated use of Automobile ability, although i was able to find the Moor with +5 in herb sales skill. -

I'm playing "Bar Crawl"...I shall start somewhere in Dubai Saturday morning, continue through to the Dubai airport somewhere around 11pm, then finsh up the first few levels with an intermission on an airplane until I reach Paris. Level 4 will be played in Paris airport until my next plane leaves towards the USA, where I shall continue playing the game until I pass out or the bonus drinks run out.

I gotta be honest, I've boarded in 4' of powder before and it fucking sucked. If you fall, you're pretty much fucked, getting the board back on top of the snow enough to get going again takes an incredible amount of energy, and god forbid you hit a valley or something slow, then you have to trudge out. Terrible.
1-2' is about as deep as I like to ride in, anything more and it's just more effort than it's worth. -

Warhammer 40000k Squad Command on the PSP. This is a seriously awesome game. For people waiting for a new xcom, stop waiting and pick up this game! While it doesn't have base building and research, the turn based combat is perfect.
Also I plan to hit the second episode of the new Sam n Max season. Assuming they manage to get the game out.-

Naw, I can understand it. Coming from the tabletop, I expected more customization via point distribution and such. I see it's still $30 and not selling at mainstream outlets anymore (gg Gamestop). Hrmm.
Once work feels the need to catch up on my pay (gfg) I think I'll see where it's at. Tekken has sounded quite appealing however.

GRAW2, my goodness the explosions are incredible. http://www.gametrailers.com/player/17444.html
hard to tell from that video thanks to the lame music and weak sound, but in game you really feel them.
and maybe some Oblivion or DS games after i finish that. -
A little TF2. Gonna start Splinter Cell: Double Agent, and maybe play a little Gears of War on Hardcore though I don't know if I can stomach playing the final guy again. He was tough as shit on Casual. :( God damn Kryll. I hate when games have a pretty maintained difficulty throughout the entire game then just throw in a retarded boss battle at the end that is completely off the charts. :(

medium drums isn't that hard if you've got the basic beat/patterns down. Many songs reuse the same ones so eventually you get them and can just have fun with it. That is until the fucking 9 min long green grass and high tides. 1st half is easy the 2nd half is just fucking brutal after you've been playing that long. It's also song 30 in the list for drums so you can't move on until you pass that which sucks. The songs after it other than enter sandman were all a lot easier.

Did you receive your gum rubber pads yet? If so, how do you like 'em?
Today I went kinda' crazy and bought $150 worth of stuff to mod my Rock Band equipment:
- Neoprene and Gum Rubber pads ($20 + shipping)
- Magnetic switch to convert a real bass drum pedal into a Rock Band pedal ($10 shipped)
- Bass drum pedal, BD practice pad, and another pair of sticks (I already have a bass drum pedal, but I wanted to get a new one anyway). Total: $120
w00t!
