EA has released a new Battlefield: Bad Company (PS3, X360) movie, focusing on the destruction you can unleash in the game. As producer Jamie Keen says, "blowing things up is just fun."

    This isn't a whole new engine is it ? It looks very much like BF2 plus destructible environments (buildings, trees) ?

      It's a whole new engine from the ground up.

      Also, there's a rumor that BF3 will use an even more modified version of it (DX10 I guess) called Frostbite FX...

      Even if it did look like BF2 (and I don't really agree with that), adding highly destructible environments is the kind of change that requires a major engine overhaul or total rewrite.

      I don't think so, but even if that was the case, I'd have no problem with it. I've always had an issue with games as they leap up the technological ladder but add nothing to the game play other that pretty graphics and maybe draw distances. I'm glad to see someone finally taking this on, even if it is console only.

      Besides, saying 'BF2 plus destructible environments' is like saying 'this looks like a regular backpack except it's full of diamonds.'
