Majesco Exploring Wii Nature Photography, Announces Wild Earth: African Safari (Updated)
by Chris Faylor, Dec 13, 2007 8:30am PSTUpdate: Majesco has released 11 screenshots of the game, depicting lions, hippos, giraffes, and a dead wildebeest.
Original Story: With the recent Virtual Console release of HAL Laboratory's Pokemon Snap (N64) inspiring a number of Wii-owning wannabe photo journalists, Majesco will soon be allowing players to act as a nature photographer in Africa's Serengeti National Park.
Titled Wild Earth: African Safari, the game is being developed by Super X Studios, which handled the 2006 PC version (demo here). The project bears no relation to Rhino Studios' elusive PlayStation 3-exclusive Afrika, which is thought to be centered around nature photography as well.
Along with 30 different animals and a soundtrack provided by Talking Drum Records--a "world music label," claims Majesco--the game will boast three-person cooperative play and a mini-game that lets players directly control the animals. Wild Earth: African Safari is slated to arrive this spring.
Publisher Majesco is currently riding high on its wave of recent announcements, which include the mini-game-filled Wonderworld Amusement Park (Wii) and an untitled Wii music game from PaRappa the Rapper (PSX, PSP) creators Rodney Alan Greenblat and Masaya Matsuura.

Though given this game revolves entirely around exploration and photography, I would really expect more impressive environments to walk around in. Those screenshots look pretty empty and cold. I loved taking pictures in Beyond Good & Evil but that's partly because the environments were pretty awe-inspiring at times.
But I guess this game probably isn't "meant for gamers" so I'll shut up.
