Peter Jackson comes along and does his style of a LOTR trilogy. He goes on to win multiple academy awards and the next best thing Hollywood can produce is Dungeon Siege? <sigh>

There is so much good fantasy already written, I simply can't comprehend why somebody would choose to go after the relatively sparse Dungeon Siege universe as the basis for a movie. All those writers would have needed to do was visit a comic book shop for a day and ask the patrons about their favorite fantasy novels, and then visit a book store. Even knowing that not every novel or series can translate well to a screenplay, they still would have been sitting on a goldmine of material to license.

Quasi-new topic: What Uwe Boll movies has everyone here seen? I know the desired answer is "none" but lets be honest... we've all been a little curious when we should have been cautious.

Personally, I've seen House of the Dead (amusingly awful) and BloodRayne (not offensively bad, just REALLY boring).... and seeing as I run a film critic website, I will probably see this... in a theater... ugh.

So what do the rest of you say?

Just saw a preview feature yesterday and must say that what they are trying to do in the movie looks nice - may come out as a mix of Eragon and King Arthur. Uwe Boll seems to have matured and what he was saying in the lengthy interview made mucho sense. He also strongly acknowledges the game background and is trying to stick to the world that it is built on. Also the actors are very favourable, so I am kind of looking forward to it - can't be worse than golden compass anyways :)

I wonder if Ray Liotta even speaks in this movie or just looks like a constipated asshole and shoots bats or whatever that was from his hands.

I wish more actors would come clean and just say 'the money' when asked why they do certain movies.

It doesn't look that bad, at least not as bad as his previous works. Then again the Hitman trailer made that movie look good too. One thing sounds really off though, is Statham trying to do an American accent? He didn't really sound his usual thick Cockney self.

as far as uwe's work goes this is one of the more promising trailers.
