FPS Command & Conquer: Tiberium Revealed

Electronic Arts is taking another stab at the FPS market with Command & Conquer. The cover

story on the upcoming January issue of Game

Informer magazine has word of Command & Conquer: Tiberium, likely in development by EA Los Angeles based on past evidence. You play as Ricardo

Vega, a GDI field commander dragged out of retirement to stop the latest Nod master plan. Here are a

few of the details:

Will ship on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360

Set 11 years after the third Tiberium war

Squad-based action

Squads are called R.A.I.D. (Rapid Assault and Intercept Deployment)

Known squad types are infantry, missile infantry, Titan and Orca

Missions are around the "Mediterranean Red Zone"

Special powers such as "Orbital Slug" are available

Command & Conquer previously took to the first-person perspective with franchise creator Westwood Studios' Command & Conquer: Renegade, released for PC in 2002 to mixed reception.

The world didn't do C&C:R justice. :'( The game was a trainwreck of clusterfucks, but it did a lot of things right and was pretty innovative/fun... until BF42 came along and did everything right.

C&C renegade was the best multiplayer FPS experience ever :), if they improve that and give it more love from the developers in this new game... BF1942 will have competition :)

This would be AWESOME. I never played Renegade unfortunately, but I do love all things C&C (been playing since the original), and I'd love to give a new C&C FPS title a spin. It needs to have vehicles though! Drive a Mammoth Tank or an Orca Bomber. Actually, now that I think about it, a BF1942 style C&C FPS would be fucking great!

Look forward to it. Renegade was highly underrated, especially for its multiplayer. It felt like I was being clicked on by a human to blow up a building structure with C4.

You know what might be cool, is squad based action but each person gets their own squad of AI guys. When you die, you just respawn as one of the AI ala Rainbow Six. If each person commanded a 5 person squad that would be 160 dudes running around a 32 player game.

God damn that would rule.
