Battlefield: Bad Company Character Movie

To the people crying "ARRGH THEY RIPPED OFF TF2!!!!111"

Actually, these guys did 'it' first, and it was hilarious then just as it is now.

Given how much time/energy Valve spent on character design, and fleshing each class out in terms of voice, style, animations, etc. it is a natural extension of that process for them (valve) to do videos such as the ones they did. (The voice emotes alone have managed to add an extra layer of humor to what would otherwise be missing). Most importantly, the valve videos introduced the characters to players who may not be familiar with the game and emphasized the differences between the classes as well as showing their over the top take/approach to the whole game.

I'm sure this Battlefield game will have the usual class set up as dictated by kit/weapon load out, but this hardly seems to require "education" on their part to let players know the difference. Also, given the more "realistic" tone of the Battlefield games to date, to me, this video comes across as a little too silly for me. What's going to get me jazzed about yet another BF game is action and cool ways to blow stuff up. This just seems off target to me.

You guys really give valve too much credit. Their character videos aren't that good (I actually find ALL of these character videos lame as hell)

I know these videos are for the console one, but I just don't like the idea of any game carrying the battlefield name without 32 player and 64 player multiplayer combat. That's the only thing that really defines the franchise from other shooters. It's just using a good name for marketing.

This is the best they could come up with? You find probably a few hundred people on the Garry's Mod forums or Youtube who make funnier or more engaging game videos than this.

The talent is out there.

TF2 marketing is starting to inspire....

Wow that was poor. It just reeks of ripping off the TF2 idea with much worse execution and no reason for it in the context of this game.

Well watching this without sound isn't helpful whatsoever, but I will agree that this is pretty stupid compared to the Valve videos. Especially watching his arms flail about at his side over and over again.

Motion capture is not the way to go with videos like these, it just looks silly and way over-done.

Too bad that guy has no facial expression at all, that would have made it great instead of okay...

not as good as the TF2 ones, but kind of nice to see.
LOL at the pre-order at the end.

I wonder how many other game producers/distributors are going to jump on the character bio/video bandwagon?
