Morning Discussion

So it looks like the first Halo 3 map pack is impending. Both the Chris' chimed in with their impressions here. I'm curious to see how players react to it, as on one hand new content is great, but do you want to pony up another $10 to keep playing with your friends? I for one wonder if we'll start seeing the collector's editions and such start coming with pre-paid vouchers for the downloadable content.

So White Elephant season seems to be in full effect. There's a boggling array of holiday spirit to be found in the informative comments, and it's only occasionally scary, so give it a look if you haven't already.

    Incoming WEATHER thread

Power outages all around KC but they don't sound too extensive. Hope everyone else is having good luck with tree limbs and power lines and the like. On the way in to work (at 5:30am, because I couldn't sleep with the power off) I drove under several sets of low-hanging, ice-covered power lines.

Let's turn this into a MORNING thread as well. I hope yours is going better than mine! (I did get tea though, that's a plus).

it's closed, I think the water got into the cracks, froze, so when I was halfway to work and the ice on top starting thawing, it all just started coming in. Moved my refinishing project aside and it's in the garage w/ a fan inside.

Update: g/f car did the same thing. So, after changing clothes from my sunroof soaking me, I get 3/4 the way to work w/ the g/f, and her shit pisses all over me. So I'm at work, damp. . .I should just go home, get drunk and play tf2.

so the choice is shacking from work or shacking from home? Why not home? You can view NWS threads then.

It was 18 degrees this AM according to my car. But the roads are fine. We are getting some rain later and if it's warm enough, it should be fine. But we're right on the line on the weather map where they say rain or ice...

Yeah, fun times. It took quite a while to get to work. At least it was mostly slush and not complete ice. The power lines / trees are starting to get pretty badly coated though and there are quite a few more hours of this crap left.

So far I've still got power, we'll see if it lasts the rest of the day, it's still coming down. In the last big storm my power was out for 5 days, which sucketh.

Off campus areas had their power gone by 9pm last night, and they closed the campus for today meaning all the finals get shoved back to Friday night and Saturday meaning the residence halls stay open for another day meaning I get to stick around for another day meaning I gonna have to be really creative with how I swing the whole "getting home" thing.
