  • GTA:SA was holy grail. The game was FUN!!!!

Now with this generation of games focussing on realism and movie quality graphics I'm a bit worried.
Rockstar will deliver, no doubt, and the game will rock, but I doubt that it'll be as FUN as GTA:SA was. Anyone who didn't like GTA:SA is a total freak and nerd. It was up the same leage as Halflife, it defined immersion/freedom, pretty much everything was perfect in this game, especially how you progress through the game, and ofcourse the vehicles (the Harrier was the cherry on top). They sure did change the formula with this game. I'm looking forward to this, but for some reason the graphics have some sort of depressing feel to it (GTA:SA had more vibrant colours).

After this Rockstar needs to make a GTA that takes place in the future, in a Metropolis kind of way. Large buildings with intersecting bridges, flying vehicles. You start out as a simple guy (who lost his memory) , dwelling amongst lowlifes/thugs in a border city. At the start you can only drive simple (ground based) vehicles, simple exploration, and as you progress you gain access to higher levels of buildings (exploring inner corridors/rooms). More ratchet & clank kind of graphics. That's my dream GTA.

GAMEPLAY over REALISM..... Repeat, GAMEPLAY over REALISM. Thnx for listening.

  • As echoed by many comments, I've been rather "meh" about this game--but only until the moment I finished watching this trailer. I thought it was phenomenal, and served to get me excited for the game.

I know the last several GTA games have felt very similar, but I think the fault in large part lies at the feet of the "Stories" games. I found GTA: SA to be very dynamic and great fun, easily my favorite 3D GTA game. The Liberty/Vice City Stories games, however, felt like giant steps backward due to no longer being able to dynamically customize my avatar and experience to just run around and partake in all sorts of activities--stopping off to play pool; shooting around at a basketball court; working out to improve my strength and stamina; entertaining several girlfriends; aimlessly flying around with my jetpack; and so much more.

The Liberty/Vice City Stories games simply felt like slight upgrades of their respective worlds. R* gave us too much of a good thing. Hopefully, GTAIV will not only expand on the dynamic and open nature of GTA: SA, but expand upon it enough to rebirth the series.
