Xbox 360 Backwards Compatibility Updated

Microsoft has just issued the latest backwards compatibility update for the Xbox 360, allowing over 80 previously unsupported original Xbox games to be played on the system. Thanks to the Xbox 360's software emulation, all supported games are capable of running in resolutions up to 1080i with anti-aliasing.

Notable titles added include Armed and Dangerous, Breakdown, Burnout 2: Point of Impact, Freedom Fighters, and Syberia II. To see if any of your favorite original Xbox titles are now playable, scope out the latest additions or the full list of backwards compatible games.

Today's update also increases the number of titles Microsoft will be able to offer via the Xbox Originals program, which allows Xbox 360 owners to download original Xbox titles from Xbox Live and play without a disc. Each game will run 1200 Microsoft Points ($15) when the service debuts on December 4.

Xbox 360 owners can obtain the update by either inserting an original Xbox game into the system while connected to Xbox Live or by downloading the update from Microsoft and burning it to a disc.

this is the shittiest BC update so far. still no riddick, xmen legends 2 or tenchu :(

at least i can dust off my copy of hunter and baldurs gate (i never played it though)

I guess it'll never happen at this late stage but it's a damn shame Microsoft never gave us a way to import our savegames from the Xbox or an Xbox memory card to the 360 like both the other platforms (even if I had to buy a stupid USB adapter for the PS3 that I used once and will never use again, at least it was an option).

It's funny that some games are playable but their sequels aren't. For instance SSX 3 is, but SSX Tricky isn't. Rallisport Challenge is, RSC2 isn't.

I might have to give Freedom Fighters a third playthrough, especially with Kane and Lynch being not so hot.

Love that game. I'd play a FF2 sequel in a heartbeat. Let me retake Europe, Red Dawn/Wolverines style.
