Unreal Tournament 3 PS3 Ship Date Announced

Publisher Midway has announced the official ship date for Epic Games' PlayStation 3 version of multiplayer shooter Unreal Tournament 3, confirming Epic VP Mark Rein's recent estimate of December 10. The PS3 game went gold just days ago.

Unusually for a console game, Unreal Tournament 3 on PS3 features support for user-created content; Shacknews recently got some hands-on time with the game and observed the ability to load maps and mods from its central "My Content" menu.

UT3 is already available on PC. The PS3 game will be priced at the standard $59.95.

I am pleasantly surprised with the PC version so far. Warfare mode plays a lot faster
then onslaught did because of the new orbs, it's a blast.

Vehicle CTF is also very fun. the whole package feels a lot like classic UT but with better
graphics and sweet vehicles.

I started some of the campaign stuff (On PC) and I am finding the backstory kind of odd. The tournament stuff is now just past history and there is a war that you are fighting with different factions. It feels really weird fighting a war through CTF and DM... Warfare mode makes sense though.

Anyway it is still the same lighting fast gameplay with a few more vehicles and a hoverboard. And it is a nice step up visually from the last game.

I saw this for the first time this weekend at a lan, and I have to say that in my personal opinion, the weapons look atrocious and terribly distracting at first. It looks like they decided to put some neat graphics-effects mumbo-jumbo to make the weapons LOOK all technologically advanced, but many of them look cheesy at best. The new bio rifle, shock rifle, and rocket launcher all look wacky. The enforcer doesn't look too bad, but those are the only ones I saw.
