        Good point. But still, most people don't make that distinction, and assume that Hawaii was a state at the time, so the "feeling" that our country's soil was attacked is legitimate. (even if technically incorrect)
        
        But still, it wasn't like having a major American city bombed, which is what many European countries had to deal with for years on end. I think the closest thing America has had like that to date was the bringing down of the twin towers.
        
        I think war becomes more real when it's your city that's burning. Your family (that are not soldiers) that are dying around you. Your home being destroyed. It's different than watching it happen to someone else on the news.
