Willis and Thornton Rumored as Stars for Kane & Lynch Film Adaptation

According to the Times Online, Lionsgate Studios is fast-tracking the film adaptation of Io Interactive's Kane & Lynch: Dead Men (PC, PS3, X360), which retailed this week. To fill the shoes of the aging mercenary Kane and creepy psycho Lynch, the studio has apparently been courting Die Hard star Bruce Willis ("The Whole Ten Yards," "Rugrats Go Wild") and actor Billy Bob Thornton ("Bad Santa," "Mr. Woodcock").

Though Eidos has licensed its game properties, most notably Tomb Raider, to Hollywood studios before, the license for Kane & Lynch was sold well before the game hit retail. The game has received fairly unfavorable reviews from the gaming press, which could have an adverse effect on the movie's box office earnings.

A film based on Io Interactive's Hitman series of games hits theaters November 21, directed by Xavier Gens and starring Timothy Olyphant of Deadwood.
