More On 1Ghz
by Maarten Goldstein, Mar 03, 2000 5:05am PSTThere's a news story that talks about the pricing of the 1Ghz processors that we'll be seeing soon from AMD and Intel. They expect both to cost around $1,000, while machines carrying the processors will probably cost around $4,000. ZDnet also reports in another story that besides Intel, AMD too will have their 1Ghz processor available in PCs from brand-name OEMs. The race is on.
In somewhat other hardware news, The Register has word (as has your local computer shop, no doubt) that DRAM prices have gone up again for the first time since September, with price increases up to 30%. So that's kinda shit if you were waiting for prices to fall even further.

Why is it that RAM prices shoot up overnight and it takes weeks or months to come back down? It\'s the man trying to keep us down, I\'m tellin ya...
We have the right to bitch about paying ~75 instead of ~60 cents per MB. At least drives (ATA) are getting cheaper... $6 - $8 per GB...
I used to get a kick out of that game on the 64..Heh
