New PS2 Model Possibly Arriving in 2008 for $99
by Carlos Bergfeld, Nov 02, 2007 10:47am PDTSony already trimmed down its PlayStation 2 console in 2004, but it may be releasing another revision next year, and at a lower price point. UK gaming site MCV claims it can "exclusively reveal" the news of this new model, coming to the U.S. in early 2008 for $99. According to the site, European territories will see the new console as well. The console will supposedly have a built-in power supply, unlike the current slimmed-down model, presumably making it bulkier than the 2004 slim model but smaller than the original PS2. The move makes sense, as the price cut from $129 to $99 for the PS2 is really the last card the company can play. And since the PlayStation branch has been hemorrhaging cash since the PS3 came out--doubling their losses the most recent quarter--it would behoove it to do so soon, before the PS2 becomes even less popular. When contacted for comment, a Sony rep issued the following statement: "We haven't made any announcements regarding a price drop, and or redesigns on the PS2 and we cannot comment on any rumors or speculation."

WTF Sony!?!?!
I mean, that tech has to be getting smaller and smaller. roll in .65nm, and you can shrink those things tiny. Only hurdle is the dvd.
Intel now has .45nm processors, lets get some portable xbox360s while we are at it! :)
