PlayStation Store Gains Twisted Metal 2, Demos of TimeShift and Need for Speed ProSteet
by Chris Faylor, Nov 01, 2007 4:24pm PDTTwo demos, a true PlayStation classic, and a veritable wealth of downloadable content for The Godfather mark today's additions to the online PlayStation Store. Most exciting of the new offerings is SingleTrac's Twisted Metal 2 (PSX), which many believe represents the pinnacle of the long-running car combat series. It sells for $5.99, and is playable on both PlayStation 3 and PSP.
As for demos, PlayStation 3 owners can now try their hand at Sabre Interactive's chronology-bending first-person shooter TimeShift (PC, PS3, X360), as well as EA Black Box's latest entry in another long-running franchise, Need for Speed ProStreet (PC, PS2, PS3, X360, Wii, NDS, PSP). Though TimeShift arrived on other systems this week, it's not scheduled to arrive on PlayStation 3 until November 19, while ProStreet is slated to hit almost every platform imaginable on November 14. EA Redwood Shore's The Godfather: The Don's Edition (PC, PS2, PS3, X360, Xbox, Wii) also benefits from today's update, which brings with it 14 different pieces of downloadable content providing mobster massacre mayhem. Prices range from free to $7.99, with the varied offerings including more powerful weapons, in-game cash, and new challenges.

This version does not support PlayStation peripherals (controller, memory card, multitap, etc.), therefore functionalities such as multiplayer, versus and the motherfuckingly awesome co-op modes are not available.
As awesome as this is, it's a deal-breaker for me. My best memories of TM2 were trying to struggle through the game with a friend via co-op.

If the new PS3's don't have backwards compatibility, how could they DL TM2 and play it?
Or does the limit of BC only affect ps1 and ps2 physical media?
