Not at all, compared to other home stereo/home theater speakers - you can easily spend over $1000 (US) for a decent set of HT sats and a powered sub to match.

who are they kidding? I bought my klipsch 4.1 system years ago for $250 (i think) and that included the subwoofer. I don't remember the 5.1's being that much more expensive either.

Those are discontinued Home theater satellite models (we used to stock them, and the $859 was the Canadian retail MSRP - they never actually sold for that price. Here in the US they listed for $799/set, and we used to sell them for $669 ($599 when on sale) for the set, or $949 with the (powered) SW10 subwoofer. That's not an at all unusual price for a decent set of satellite/subwoofer HT speakers; in fact, it's in the lower 1/3rd of the price range.

At $299 for the set, it's a good deal if you add a powered subwoofer to the system.
