What the hell?

I've just woke up after having a strange dream about the Shack.
I somehow managed to get into a Shack meeting. Everyone was there. But things were not quite right.
Steve and Maarten were women, and not particuarly nice looking women either.
Remo was dressed in some kind of aminal suit (god knows where that came from) and everyone else were small children. Who were playing kids learning games on crappy old PCs.
There was lots of noise and Steve had huge problems trying to get everyone to be quiet, he/she was getting very stressed about it, then his cell phone rang. While he was on the phone i shouted at everyone to shut up, which they all did, and helped the small kids with closing their games and shutting down their computers. Then when Steve was finished on his cell phone he asked me to leave and that was it.
To make it even stranger the phone dream/nighmare was in Danish.
(I'm a brit that lives in Denmark)

Help me shack! I don't want to close my eyes again!

While at Best Buy picking up a copy of GH3 with a wireless guitar (fucking walmart) I noticed they had a demo set up of Rock Band.

The drum kit looks really solid. I didnt get a chance to play as it was crowded, but it looked really awesome. The demo had probably 10 or so songs that we playable.

I need some help with my new wireless buffalo PCI card, guys.

It's installed, it connects to the network, but it can't resolve an IP address from my Buffalo router (w/tomato). I've tried repairing the connection, but that doesn't help. The DHCP is setup fine. Other computers can get on the network. I use a WEP key and I'm pretty sure it's in correctly...it hasn't said "invalid WEP key" or anything.

What is going on?

Well,

I just earned 35,000 tickets on club.live.com, which means my FREE Xbox 360 Pro is ordered, in stock, and expecting delivery on 12/22/2007.

It only took a few months and I only played while at work, so I never wasted my free time. Also, didn't cheat.

Please help me pick my next console system....I am torn between a 360 and a PS3. I just cannot decide which system to get. Please chime in if you have faced a similar delima.

I want to buy a system to play GH3 and Rock Band on. I don't think im very interested in online play, but given the power of the 360's online features, it a potential plus for MS.

I also want to play FF13 and MSG 4, but looking at my FF12 and MSG3 play, i dunno if i'd finish the game.

PS3 has the built in blue-ray, and even though i don't buy DVDs, if blockbuster or netflix will rent em, on my 720p sony, i assume the diff between blu ray and HDDVD movies (not extras) will be miniaml.

I am super scared of the RROD. seeing posts has really put the fear of it in me, and i just don't want to risk the hassles.

THe last are the intangibles....what are the games besides halo that would be a system seller that I am not aware of yet.

The Thing meets Event Horizen meets Doom meets awesomeness in SPACE WITH ZERO GRAVATY.

The gimmick for this game is that you have to dismember the different enemy types at different points on their body with different weapons.

Looking fun so far!

What an awesome shackmeet! I hungout with Dognose, Omnova, Fleabug, Githyanki, Kbnerd, Flox, SonicSquirrel, a friend of fleabug who's name escapes me, and a little bit of RomSteady and sHugamom.

What a great group of people! We had tons of fun at 6 flags. The texas titan and mr. freeze rides owned my soul. My feet hurt and i'm pretty sure i got a decent sunburn, but it was totally worth it. I promised them all i'd be down every few months for more goodness!

I don't really have any pics, but Fleabug got an AWESOME pic of me at humperdinks (good beer!) when the sun was shining ONLY on me. Apparently i have divine blood or soemthing, cuz i was glowing. It was awesome!

PC Upgrade

There seems to be quite a few of these lately and with some money coming my way I figure it's about time to do a minor upgrade until Penryn/Barcelona prices to come down a bit.

Current rig:
AMD 3500+ Single core Socket 939
1GB DDR(2x512)
ATi x850xt 256mb
Vista Ultimate 32-bit

Idea for an upgrade to get the most out of this platform:
AMD 4200+ Dual Core Socket 939
A 1GB stick of RAM
~$120

Then later this year:
Nvidia 8800GT 512mb
~$250

This should take me well into next year I would think. At least until the Quad core's come down a bit for the newest platforms where I will have to get DDR2/DDR3 ram.

Will there not be much of a boost with the 4200 Dual core as I thought?

I could just start to get ready for the Penryn and get a P35 motherboard and a cheap Allendale processor until I can get a quad core but I forgot how expensive most Intel boards are for what you are getting.

Been playing Homeworld tonight (for the first time ever).

Jesus H Christ, the sound design in this game is absolutely perfect. Also, I'm glad I got into Battlestar Galactica, because I think it's helping me appreciate the setting / tech even more. There's a lot of similarities it seems. Also, the music has a bit of a BSG feel.

Wow, what a great game.

I tried to play MGS (the first one, but on the Gamecube). I have decided I must be dead inside because the game does nothing for me at all. I love stealth games - hitman, splinter cell, commandos, theif and desperados are some of my favourite games of all time. Hell I even liked the stealth in NOLF 1 and 2!

But holy crap, I just can't get even one second of enjoyment from a MGS game. I have only played 1 and 2 and not got very far in either. Everything about them seems to combine to lessen my enjoyment. The voice acting, the controls, the cut scenes, the combat. Even the environments are linear.

I've been told to treat it more like chu chu rocket, because it's essentially a puzzle game. I love chu chu rocket, but I like my stealth to have a more atmospheric and organic feel. I like to play it my way.

tldr: I tried (for about the 4th time) to play and enjoy MGS and I have decided that was the last time.

On another note: I also played Kingdom Hearts and enjoyed that. First JRPG I have ever played for more than 20 minutes.

I think there is no reason to buy a GTX (which costs 250-300EUR more) anymore.

Conclusion: Its price, performance and power use make the GTX look like a relic.

Ranked achivements are dumb. I just got a 13 kill spree in Halo 3 but I don't get the achivement for it because it was in Rumble Pit isntead of Lone Wolves. It was in a regular slayer game not one of those crazy gametypes

What's the latest FPS to offer the most modern military or special forces immersion with real weapons and somewhat realistic single-player scenarios? Looking for something with satisfactory sniping and also building raids and such.

Is there a new Rainbow Six or similar type of game coming out anytime soon? Heck I don't even remember what the last Rainbow Six game was (I stopped playing them after Rogue Spear, aside from trying the demo for the third one).
