meh!
The game itself seems to be good if you enjoyed Far Cry (which I did), but the performance right now is unacceptable. I guess I'll pick this up next time I upgrade my video card.

Just finished the Demo, was a bit frustrating at first, gave up on trying to run it in vista
felt like i was wading through sludge on my rig playing at 1680X1050, everything on Very High except for Post Processing : Quad6600 @ 2.6ghz / 2GBS Crucial Ballistic 1066 / 8800 GTX 768 / WD Raptor 150GB (using the beta nvidia driver)
Runs very well in XP, nvidia beta drivers, everything at High
incredible game, once i figured out the functions of the suit, (how awsome is it to switch to strength mode, jump on a roof and in midair switch to cloak?!?!?!)
my only complaint is they should hotkey the functions of the suit to keys (although this may be an option, i havent played with the settings too much)
i will be purchasing this game when it comes out , i felt captured by the game the entire way through the demo
i hope they can fix the vista framerate issue , i just spent 1700 bux on my rig, and to play this game at 10 - 15 fps in DX10 is very disappointing, hopefully some new drivers will fix it
great game

This game is just as good a they have promised, the grahpic is just incredible, first I pressed everything to high to see if my computer could handle it and it could, they framerate fell down a bit a few times but after i set the Post Processing to medium everything run smoothly. This is a game that everyone should have, a revolution in the FPS games, no longer the distance shooting and hiding, now we take they fight right into the enemy base by jumping in over the wall, cloak and sneak up to a guard and grab him and then throw him into a housewall so that the wall falls apart. This is what all FPS should be like.
REALLY GREAT WORK CRYTEK!

If it's a special level then I'll grab the demo and have fun but otherwise I'll just wait for the game to come out and save that 1.77gb of my monthly quota for some more horse porn as I am definitely buying this game unless the reviews turned sour. I loved Far Cry on the PC.

I will complain about the AI though. The poor soldiers just didn't respond well at all to my stealth shenanigans. I'd get into position while cloaked, drop back to armor for a headshot, then recloak... and, well, spontaneous cranial explosion must be a common sight amongst the ranks of the KPA. Most of my kills performed in this fashion lead to the deceased's comrade(s) casually walking up, standing there in the open, and perhaps exclaiming, "I think I heard something" to the corpse.
Occasionally they'd sneak around real slow like, but the only time they'd really leap into action was if they managed to catch a glimpse of me. Which, by the way, was real fun. Actually watching them try to flush me out of cover as a group while flinging some grenades was cool, but it didn't happen nearly enough.
Here's hoping for stronger, more aware AI in the final build. That, or I'll have to play in rambo mode :[

ACTUALLY i've seen it used on Conker: Live and Reloaded on the original Xbox which uses Geforce 3 Ti200 hardware i think so not sure why games just now are starting to use this feature on the PC

Anyone else having this problem? When I set the resolution to anything other than the stock 800x600, the game doesn't fill the screen properly. It doesn't fill vertically or sometimes both horizontal and vertical. Other times it does nothing. When this happens my mouse is also OFF from where the pointer is displayed - so it makes it impossible to click anything.
I have:
Core 2 duo E6600
Geforce 8800GTX
Vista 32-bit Ultimate
4 gigs ram(only 3 showing of course)
169.01 Video Driver
My native resolution on my 30" dell is 2560x1600. I've tried other resolutions too, but they all give me the same problem????

1. Is the very high option only available under vista
2. how do you access the sandbox? I ran the installer, but can't find a shortcut to the program

Very much like Far Cry but 10x better production values in every area.

my only complaints is the AI, sometimes id shoot someone and he'd turn his back to me and start walking towards me with his back facing me, yelling "im going to get you, you crazy yankee".
i just hope the full game doesnt fall apart like farcry did.

And what's the problem with aiming? I mean I line up a shot from the rifle with the small zoom (you know the better aiming thing) with 1 shot (not burst) into the guys head and he stays alive! And it happened dozens of time... And I'm not talking about shooting from a kilometer - sneak up with cloak and shoot from 3 meters... :S
Also, too easy. Just played on delta difficulty. Enemies are pretty dumb. And no crosshair? with such high tech suit? Poor way of rising difficulty...
I'll buy it probably, but I'll put it to the queue after Timeshift...
also one time I was hiding behind a tree while this dude was shooting at me, and the tree ended up falling on me and killing me :D

I installed the game, rebooted (had to install a vista patch). Come back to the desktop and click Crysis.exe and it says "shortcut is broken/file missing."
I go into the "all programs" and there's nothing for EA games, etc.
I manually go to c:\program files\ea games and look around the crytek folder. No executables for the game.
k, so I re-click the demo exe file, run a "repair" operation, same thing.
how in the hell do I start the game?

Performance wise I'm happy as well. Playing at 1024x768 with everything at very high is smooth. I ran the GPU benchmark and I came out at 30.something. That's good enough for me, I never felt like the framerate was hindering my gameplay.
Visually everyone knows how good this is. From beginning to end of the demo, the graphics really draw you into the environment. Time and time again on my first play through I had those 'Awe' moments.
Overall, it seems like Crytek is really going to deliver something special.
That together with the kickass MP, Crysis is a must buy for sure.
btw, E6850, 2 gigs ram, SLI 8800 (640 megs)
:)
Runs great!

E6600
8800GTX
2MB RAM
Windows XP
Nvidia driver version 169.01
1900x1200 resolution
Vertical sync forced on via Nvidia control panel; all other driver settings at default.
The game runs well with all settings on high and no AA. It's definitely playable at these settings, but dropping post-processing detail to medium, shadow quality to medium, OR shader effects to medium (as in any ONE of these) and the game performs flawlessly. I prefer reducing the post-processing effect to medium over the others since the motion blur effect when using high is a bit too much IMO. Of all of these the shader setting seems to have the greatest effect on performance. I didn't bother playing with any of the other graphics options.
As for AA, the performance penalty of even 2x is pretty severe and is simply not worth it IMO.

i played through it on medium@1280x1024 with ca 60 fps but decided to drop the resolution to play it on high.
imo 1024x768 on high is the way to go with not top of the line hardware.
seriously guys drop those high resolutions if you get shitty fps
but don't shut down the visuals or try playing with 30fps (fps will drop in shootouts).
(you can set sound physics, textures and post processing on medium to get a decent fps boost without loosing to much eyecandy)
