Animal Crossing MMO Heading to Wii?
by Nick Breckon, Oct 24, 2007 12:03pm PDTReports circulating today indicate that the next version of Nintendo's unique Animal Crossing series will go the way of Warcraft, ending up as an MMO on the Wii. The rumors originate from Edge magazine, which apparently cites an unnamed Japanese source that confirmed the game as a "social networking MMO." Lending credence to the idea is that Animal Crossing, with its networking-based gameplay and fun-for-all-ages attitude, seems perfectly suited to the MMO format. Animal Crossing: Wild World for the Nintendo DS already included limited online connectivity features, allowing players to visit each other's towns and share copious amounts of fruit. On the upside this really could be an awesome game. The eventuality that Animal Crossing would go MMO was definitely an incentive on buying the wii.

I bought a gamecube for Animal Crossing, bought Animal Crossing for the DS, and I'd buy this version too! It was fun visiting other people's towns to see what their house looked like. Having this game in a MMO format would make it even easier.
