8Howdy y'all. So I haven't really played Warhawk, but this story about adding Arbiters seems pretty interesting. Here you have a mass market console game, with online super-users to smooth out the user experience. Now this is old hat for PC software, from MUDs to World of Warcraft, but to see transition over to the console world is interesting and I wonder if it might be the start of reaction to stuff like this.
The ending... so sad. :(

p.s. i'm a disgrace to all shackers everywhere... I wandered off with my crew and continued getting on rides while the shackers took forever walking places and getting sidetracked. I only had a little bit of time and wanted to get on as many rides as possible... only got on 3 rides in 5 hours :-(

Have you ever seen a television commercial for a PC-only game? I was discussing this with a friend and I honestly can't think of a time when I've ever watched a television commercial for a PC game that wasn't also on consoles in some capacity.
The first time I ever saw a television commercial for DOOM it was - I kid you not - for the Atari Jaguar port. It featured a black priest telling you to "blast the demons right between their beady little eyes" (It's blocked at work but I think this is the one http://youtube.com/watch?v=d3VROCgKbVI). The same footage was later used to advertise another port, I think the 3DO or 32X one.
The first time I remember seeing Half-Life 2 in a commercial was a few weeks ago with the commercials for The Orange Box, so another console tie-in. I'm pretty sure we wouldn't have seen BioShock commercials had it not been on the 360 as well.
And yet I can't imagine that PC-only games have been ignored completely in commercials. As I wrote the above it occured to me that The Sims expansions packs were advertised, but that was only after completely unprecedented levels of sales.
I'm not trying to start some console/PC flamewar here but I'm just curious - can anyone think of any television ads for PC-only games other than Sims expansions?

Tonight's set of games were fantastic, except for this exploiting fucker xdmg. Started abusing sentry behavior and was sapping them through walls, ceilings, etc. Then he was shooting people through cracks and holes in the grates on a few levels! Sure, it's possible. But that's some bullshit, especially between Shackers.
Otherwise, pretty awesome. I kicked some serious ass as Spy on 2fort, managed to get a really good grasp of playing the class. Also, Heavy is pretty cool but I miss the mobility. I kinda wish there was a light assault class with a SMG/LMG and a pistol. But that might break the game? Maybe.
P.S. Seven captures on 2fort is stupid? Yes. That needs to be fixed, asap.

"Consoles extinct in 15 years, says EA exec"
WTF? The article is contradictory. It says consoles will be extinct, then goes on to talk about how the market will narrow down to one lone, universal console, rather than 2 or more proprietary consoles at a time. That's not extinct. Unless it's the booze fogging my mind (it's my Saturday kicking off a 3 day weekend for me)...
Either Game Informer or XBOX Mag had an article about this in the current issue (I'm too lazy to look). It was actually fairly convincing that the market may push toward a one-console future, although I just hope not because of the repercussions. I mean, if there's no direct competition in hardware, what would happen to true creativity (like the Wii)? No reason to be super creative if there's no one to try to outsell hardware-wise.
What do you think of a single console future? Any good?

Theres a Samsung LCD which is 46" and looks great for about 3 grand at best buy.
Then theres a 50" Samsung Plasma that looks identical ( i couldnt tell a difference) for about $2500
Is there a reason to avoid the Plasma? I asked the guy at Best Buy just to see what they'd and he said i cant play video games for more then 3 hours or I'll get burn in on the plasma.

I lazied up in the morning and slept until 9:30. Arriving at the office past 11:00.
Then after lunch, we played some pool and i stretched by the pool for a while (in restaurant).
Then for the whole afternoon i just shacked.

I can make out some of it, but it's so muffled that it's about twenty times the effort it should be, and some parts I can't make out at all.
Is there anything I can do to make this more understandable? I have Acid Pro 4.0 and Audacity, but if there are other available tools that make this easier, let me know. I've been fooling around with filters and EQ and stuff but I don't know what I'm doing so I'm not really getting anywhere.

You know what sucks, when you fall asleep and during the night you toss and turn only to have your boxers ride up. Now 9 times out of 10 when they ride up you wake with an atomic wedgy. But that 1 time they ride up they... well... constrict the natural hanging of the ball sack. Now this does not hurt right away... no no you can sleep for hours with this slow creep of pain until it is so immense that it actually wakes you from a deep sleep... and then the fun begins. The second you regain consciousness you assume the instant fetal position. You then lay for hours in this semi-conscious state of despair. 6 hours later sitting at a work desk and you still have that pain..... oh what a great Monday Morning.

Superman Writers Not Returning for Sequel

Superman Returns screenwriters Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris have opted not to come back and pen a sequel to the 2006 summer film that would have reunited them with helmer Bryan Singer, reports Variety. The three also worked together on X2: X-Men United.
As a result, Warner Bros. is now taking pitches for The Man of Steel's next outing from other writers -- just as the studio is trying to figure out which actor will don the character's tights in Justice League.
Brandon Routh will likely wear the "S" on his chest again. Legendary Pictures is co-developing and co-financing the project, which is expected to up the action quotient.
