Hellgate: London Now Gold, Single Player Demo Coming Thursday

I played the demo, and I have to say this game is the biggest pile of crap i've played in a long time. I think this game should go in the same landfill as the E.T. Atari game. I played the demo for at least an hour, trying to like it. The graphics are lackluster even though I had them maxed out completely. The game is completely reminescent of the Diablo series in terms of gameplay style...nothing remotely MMORPG'ish about it. There's even a similar "Wirt's Missing Leg" quest I had to complete. Originality please? I played in the third-person perspective zoomed all the way out 99% of the time because it seemed like it was the best way to play it. "Bossfights" were lame and took 10 seconds to kill by buttonmashing.

There is just nothing to like here. I had high expectations for this game from all the hype and was completely disappointed. I definitely suggest ANYONE who has a sliver of interest in this game to play the demo and be sure they want to spend money on this garbage.

Please be good, please be good. I need an MMO fix and this would satiate that desire right quick.

No one will know but the beta testers what skills suck and what ones are good. Then once they find it out they will have to reroll a char just to fix the points that they found out sucked =(

They have a HUGE chance to capture a very big market of gamers; those looking for a true Diablo'esque game, while actually waiting for a potential Diablo 3. But no, they're rushing it out the doors for the holiday season, not only that, but up against HUGE HUGE names hitting the PC market. Not only is the game full of bugs still, it feels and plays completely unpolished. Why dont companies learn the lessons of all the failures before them. Polish your game, screw holiday deadlines, and push a quality game and customers will still buy it.

This game turned into nothing but a "how much money can we steal from our customers" scheme. I gave up on it when they announced that pay for content bullshit. I don't care what the technical details of the payment scheme are, you can't compare it to Diablo when it costs money for "extra content." Hellgate london is diablos retarded step brother. have fun being pimped out by flagship studios this november. I know some of you can't wait to pay EVEN MORE for a retail beta test. It's a good thing they have patches...

I don't know whether to hope it hooks me or not. I *always* get burned by these types of games.

God this game rocks face. I'm this < . > close to getting the founders package ($150 lifetime subscription) but .... that's $200 on a stupid game =\

I hope this game sucks so I don't have to spend yet another $50 on an awesome PC game. My wallet can't handle it anymore.

They recently released a completely new client that fixes a huge number of show-stoppers.

In fact, it fixed all the bugs I was experiencing, except for the "out of memory" error that I still get every two hours or so.

Beyond that, it's now a very solid game. I'm looking forward to it.

Been in the beta a while. Pure awesomeness. They're fixing the bugs daily.

I'd like to see FSS succeed....the beta is fun but if the first few days resemble the current state of beta HGL will sink very quickly.

The situation is a sad comparison to Quake Wars, which ran a long and productive large-scale beta. They shipped a very well executed and bug free game, but into a market that was FULL of newly release FPS games. Had they gone the FSS way of early release and many patches QW would have done much better commerically IMO. Sad to see publishers punished for doing solid betas. :(

We don't know if there is still a lot of bugs or not. Chances are that they are still a lot. But you know what? The reason they are releasing the game so early is probably because of that publisher which happens to be EA. I am sure that if they had the option, they would have waited longer. If they had the funds to publish the game themselves, they would probably also have waited.

The game is fucking awesome. It's the game I always wanted to have. I don't give a shit if the game is bug ridden at release, they will get my money just because I think their idea of a game is great and they deserve to receive my money so that they can produce more of this goodness in the future and I hope they might get a name as strong as blizzard or valve in the game industry so that they won't have to rely on some shitty ass publishers..

Oh, and they will also get 9.99$ a month from me because I am a total whore.

Additionally, a demo for the single-player portion of the title will be released Thursday, giving players an offline taste of Hellgate's action.

I eagerly await Flagship's official defense of this inevitably buggy demo. I can see it now:

"This demo is actually based off of 3 month old code. The current build plays so much more smoothly, we just didn't have time to release that one. Just buy the retail game and you will see for yourself!"

Awesome that they're releasing a demo... I want to see how it runs on my old machine before purchasing...

I was really excited to hear about the game when it was first announced, but the subscription stuff, and all the talk of bugs in the beta will make me wait on this, especially since so many other good games have come out recently.
