Soldier of Fortune Payback Announced, Media
by Maarten Goldstein, Oct 09, 2007 11:03am PDTActivision today officially announced Soldier of Fortune Payback, again confirming a retail listing for the game back in June. Due out on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this November, Soldier of Fortune Payback is said to feature gameplay that fans of the series know and love while including a damage system that "may be shocking to even experienced FPS players". In addition to a singleplayer campaign, Payback also features a variety of multiplayer options including Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Elimination, Team Elimination, Capture the Flag, and Demolition game modes and persistent stat-tracking. Solier of Fortune Payback is being developed by PC-oriented Slovakian studio Cauldron, responsible for 2003's shooter Chaser (PC), 2005's action roleplayer Gene Troopers (PC, Xbox), and 2004's action game Conan (PC, PS2, Xbox, GCN), among others. You can find a trailer here and a set of screenshots here.

Personally, I can recall playing the demos of their games Chaser, Conan, and Knights of the Temple 2. Each of these games were promising in one way or the other, but ultimately pretty sub-par in execution. I'm hoping that SOF3 is were these guys redeem themselves, but who knows :/
Oh, and according to this 1up preview, the game is going to be $40 on PC and $60 on 360/PS3 (so, not budget priced, if that's what you were expecting).
