8So I've been using Vista 32bit as my main desktop OS for a bit over a month now and I'm actually pretty happy with it. It was certainly a really shakey launch for Vista with terrible driver support but assuming you have hardware from within the last year I'd say it's pretty nifty these days. Also my copy of Frontpage98 works!

It's a bit bland :(
I can do all sorts of crazy and clever stuff, help the team reach the objectives, love the shotgun during indoor battles, even get how to fly the choppers facing downwards in a circle strafe...
But am not finding that magical zing that I got when I played W:ET :(
I've been thinking maybe it's the XP rewards. The rewards in W:ET were crazy fun - but the rewards in QW:ET are barely noticeable. I often have to check the limbo menu when I rank up to see which rewards I've unlocked, because I can't really feel them while I'm playing the game.
It feels good movement/shooting wise - and it runs pretty damned well considering how crappy my graphics card is. The whole context menu, and general direction of it all is well done. It just doesn't have that magic :(
I was sooo looking forward to this game, and now I feel a bit let down.

Today in class Vista won't connect to my schools network. I'm spamming refresh and POW, explorer crashes again and again and again. So I power it off then back on. It comes up to a black screen. I reboot to safe mode. Black screen. I do a system restore. Black screen. I cuss at it. Black screen. I watch the cowboys suck. Black screen. I watch romo throw interceptions. Black screen. Tinker with the registry. Black screen. I run repair tools off Vista DVD. Black screen. So I say fuck it.
I'm going to try to replace explorer.exe and see what happens. I have nothing to lose. If it doens't work I'm buying vista ultimate and running it instead of Home Premium. Anyone know kif you can extract files off the vista DVD?

Do you play your Wii a lot and also finish the games you start?
I bought a lot of Wii games (Super Paper Mario, Mario Strikers Charged,...) recently that I just loose interest after playing for a few hours. I don't know why. I like the games - they are fun, but after a few hours I rarely return to them again.
What's wrong with me?!

i think i understand now why Sony are removing backwards compatibility. it didn't really occur to me until they announced they're discontinuing the other models in Europe. they're doing it because software BC sucks and hardware BC is too expensive for them. if they keep up with the software BC that is in the current models then they're forced to have to invest money in reworking firmware for every old game that anyone might want to play. if they put the hardware in then obviously they have to pay a fair bit for that too.
the whole "it's not important to our market" may be true in some respects, but it really does weaken the overall appeal of the console, especially those looking to "upgrade" through trade-ins. especially when both other current gen consoles offer the feature.

The first problem is that the header and footer images are transparent PNGs. They need to have transparency and repeat across the top and bottom of the page. The top also has a gradient, which means I can't use a GIF unless I get rid of the gradient. I was going to use the IE6 alpha transparency hack, but I forgot that doing this means the image will only display once or else scale to fill the width of its container, but it won't repeat. Is there any other method someone can think of to get this to work?
The other problem is the curtains on the left and right side are set to a height of 100%, which in IE6 means it only sets the height to the size of the browser window and cuts off if you scroll past it. I was SURE I had this working at one point with a 3 column + header and footer layout, but it suddenly seems broken and it's the sort of thing I hate figuring out. I could probably set the background of the body to the curtain and put the screen part as a div in the center, but that's going to be a lengthy re-write and I think it'll give me problems with trying to layer the header and footer over it.

Hello everyone. I've waited a LONG time to be able to make the following announcement: as of right now Nine Inch Nails is atotally free agent, free of any recording contract with any label. I have been under recording contracts for 18 years and have watched the business radically mutate from one thing to something inherently very different and it gives me great pleasure to be able to finally have a direct relationship with the audience as I see fit and appropriate. Look for some announcements in the near future regarding 2008. Exciting times, indeed.

Ok now the problem is that whenever I overclock my FSB, my pci express for my graphic card is running at 1x instead of 16x like it should be.
Anyone knows what it could be?

Why do people stand _around_ a contended cap point? If you're within a few steps of the point please, for fucks sake, move your slow ass to within the yellow and black box. Everybody who is inside the point is going to make it cap faster, and conversely it only takes 1 player inside the box to block.
It's soooooooooo irritating to be capping the middle point on granary as a scout and see reinforcements come up and stand just outside the box. The point stays uncapped, I get killed and the swarm of enemy pyros move in to get the cap.

Now some groups are doing reskins on armor/weapons/etc, and I've even seen a mod out there that updates one of the oldest areas with new improved textures.
Are there any other cases of external mods being allowed to co-exist peacefully with mmos? Bliz has always been open to the work in the UI, and I saw that EVE recently exposed game bits for external access. Ages ago, AO had many external programs developed for a wide variety of uses, right down to in-game text bots you could message for information.

I'm finally playing this thing, or at least, I'm finally giving it a real chance.
My reason for never being able to get into it before is that damn D&D ruleset, which is still proving to be a hurdle.
I'm in the first dungeon the mines, and I'm having a pretty hard time of it. I've got a party consisting of imoen, the two dudes I met on the road, and the people I was told to meet, and I think I've got them as armored as I'm gonna get them.
Anyone have any general tips? I keep fighting maybe one or two groups of kobolds and then having to rest until I'm healed.
How does magic/special abilities work, anyway? Can I only use them once per day? I don't see a mana counter anywhere.

I have an asus a8n sli-deluxe. The other day I was putting in an old soundblaster pci card and when I booted up and it found the new hardware it bluescreened on me. This happened twice in a row.
I then proceeded to take out the card and when I booted up again I had lost my network connection plus nothing is listed in my networks. Even in the device manager I have no listings for any network things. I even tried putting in a new pci network card and it doesn't get recognized. I also wiped my installation and the problem persisted.
Am I wrong to assume that I fucked the hardware on the mobo? If so, I'll just go out and get a similar one today at lunch.
Any thoughts?
