Hellgate: London Exclusive Footage

There's something about 3D RPG's that still hasn't been done correctly, and that's the combat animations. It used to be the two combatants would just stand in place and wave their swords and shields in the air in each other's general direction. Now we've gotten to the point of the swords actually appearing to hit the enemy, but it still looks really dumb. The "battle" with the large boss monster in the first 2 minutes of the footage, for example, looked really bad. Just random swinging and flailing around.

It would be cool to see an RPG where the combatants actually parry and adjust their combat animations to be more realistic. I would have thought by the year 2007 we could have come a lot farther than this. The game looks fun and all, but it really doesn't seem any more advanced than any other MMO technology.

Here's hoping that someday, someone can take it to the next level :(

Are there pre-order boxes that get you into the beta in stores like Best Buy and Circuit City? Or is there an online option directly from the developer/publisher? I try not to give Gamestop any money if I can avoid it.

Let me ask this, is this game okay to play w/o the subscription? How hampered am I going to be if I don't pay the monthly fee?

looks like another game i won't enjoy due to my complete lack of that gene that makes people think repetitive tasks rewarded with virtual loot is enjoyable...

Do you plan on recording co-op footage? If I get this game it will probably only be for the co-op gameplay.

Oh man, that's awesome. This is, really, the first video of actual player gameplay I've seen of the game, and it really shows off the fact that this game is truly a hack-and-slash game with different combat mechanics than Diablo/Titan's Quest/Etc.

I'm excited as hell now. I'm still waiting on my code being processed, though. :(

The game is average on so many design levels, yet ridiculously addictive. :(

love the voice acting. This game is gonna rock. I hope they have a Hardcore mode too.

The atmosphere seems pretty decent with the zombie growls (reminds of diablo), also love that there is no annoying music.

I hope the game is as bone chilling as Diablo 1.
