Between watching episodes of My Little Pony on his new iPod Touch, psychedelic game creator Jeff Minter has revealed his next project: an Xbox Live Arcade remake of his trippy shooter Gridrunner++. Already available on PC and Mac, with demos of the respective versions up at the official Llamasoft site, Gridrunner++ appears exactly as one would expect given Minter's heritage of Tempest 2000 (JAG), Space Giraffe (XBLA), and countless music visualizers ranging from WinAmp to Xbox 360. In short, it's a dizzying neon-flavored rendition of a traditional top-down shooter injected with flying sheep and eccentric stage names. "I already have it running modified for the different aspect ratio and working off the x360 pad as opposed to the mouse, and I'm changing and extending the gameplay; it'll be a much more involved game than the PC-only predecessor," Minter posted on his stinkygoat LiveJournal. "I'm getting all the gameplay working first then I'll overhaul the graphics; we'll likely go for algo generated 3D shapes rather than the hand-drawn sprites of the PC original."
