While not a full-fledged cooking simulator or cookbook, the arcadey title offers up a delightful dish of 80 virtual recipes, the taste of which is judged by an in-game panel of nine food critics. To appease their appetites and come out ahead, players will need to master the game's 150 cooking mini-games, which run the gamut of food preparation.

The game also supports game sharing, allowing up to four players to wirelessly compare their cooking prowess with only one game card, and allows players to customize their kitchen.

When the sequel was announced, Majesco noted a Wii edition of Cooking Mama 2 was "in the oven."

The original Cooking Mama on DS proved to be one of Majesco's most popular titles, selling more than 500,000 units to date. In fact, 66% percent of Majesco's Q3 earnings came from its DS offerings, though the company still recorded a loss of more than $1.5 million.
