Xbox 360 World in Conflict Stalled Until 2008
by Carlos Bergfeld, Oct 01, 2007 1:20pm PDTThough the PC version retailed nearly two weeks ago, the forthcoming Xbox 360 version of Massive Entertainment's World in Conflict won't see a release anytime soon. Originally slated for a fall 2007 release, publisher Sierra said today the title will come to Microsoft's console some time in 2008. Known for the series of Ground Control real-time tactical games on PC, developer Massive's newest outing explores an alternate reality in which the late Cold War Soviet Union has become a very real threat. I especially liked the dual screen support (like seen in supreme commander fx) - but many other cool things there.

All the more reason not to care is that WiC- PC will likely have a very active modding/mapping community once they get the SDK/map editor out. Anybody playing on X360 is going to miss out on all the cool stuff people make to plug into the beautiful graphics engine. The devs are very involved with the community and keep us updated on the forums. They've said the modding/mapping tools are close to completion.
Everybody with even a passing interest in strategy/tactical games should get World in Conflict for the PC! It is better than the X360 version could possibly be and is already available. Did I mention that the gameplay is brilliant and I would make love to the graphics engine if only it had an orifice?
