Jericho Demo Hitting PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

Following yesterday's PC demo, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 demos of Clive Barker's Jericho arrive on their console's respective download services today. Developed by Mercury Steam and published by Codemasters, the spooky first person shooters follows the exploits of the Jericho squad, a paranormal investigation team following up on reports of some decidedly creepy stuff. Players can switch between the various squad members, including one gal who cuts herself and throws magical blood balls at enemies.

"It's really fucking pretty," offered the still-medicated Shacknews founder Steve Gibson. "It's really fucking good looking. I was pretty fucking stunned. But the AI has dudes running into walls and shit."

Ummm I downloaded the 1 gig demo and apparently it doesn't give you a choice of where to extract the files... it defaults to C: ...which is fine and dandy unless you are like me and just partitioned enough of the C: drive for windows. So yea bad planning on the installer.

It's fun, but I don't particularly care for doing combos in the middle of a game, nor cutscenes for doing mundane things like climbing up the walls and jumping. I'm just a bro who likes to bro out with one all encompassing game mechanic that covers everything you will be doing in a game. Games like that tend to be more of a player-owned experience. When the game tells you how to play with timing buttons it feels... well, spectatorial.

I didn't enjoy the demo one bit. Far too easy and as said above the AI is total crap and extremely timid. Don't think this will be a purchase. Sad. Im a big fan of Clive Barker too :(

I played the PC demo loast night and it really felt like it was meant to be more fun on a console. Not to say the PC demo wasn't fun, but the game design just felt geared more toward playing on a console controller. Did run really well on my PC though and looked quite good, in a nasty organic hell sort of way.

In case it wasn't generally known, this will be released on Gametap 10/23. I think GT is a pretty good deal myself, $1 for the first month, $10 thereafter. They are up to like 900+ games now.
