Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts Ships
by Chris Faylor, Sep 25, 2007 8:12am PDTFollowing news of the game going gold earlier this month, Relic Entertainment's Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts has shipped to stores. Publisher THQ previously indicated the title would arrive in stores this month, but had not pinned down a specific date. The standalone expansion to Relic's acclaimed PC WWII RTS Company of Heroes features two new armies, each with their own campaign, DirectX 10 support, mission persistence, improved AI and physics, and a dynamic weather system. The original Company of Heroes is not required, though the two releases interface to provide new multiplayer options.

Really looking forward to this game. For an expansion, it ridiculously has nearly double the single player campaign length as the original. Awesome.
The only not-awesome thing? They have new copy protection, which while not that bad (you either need a DVD in the drive OR need to be online, unlimited installs, it just plays on one machine at a time), it sucks that the new CP is actually being rolled out to vanilla CoH in the new patch. And you'll have to patch the original game to play online, or get all the new cool weather effects & engine tweaks.
