Guitar Hero 3 Gains Sonic Youth, Manson? Releasing October 28?

It looks like Sonic Youth, Marilyn Manson and Flyleaf are joining the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock party.

According to Billboard, Interscope will be releasing a CD based on Guitar Hero III's tracklist October 30, featuring AFI's "Miss Murder," Queens of the Stone Age's "3's & 7's," and Sonic Youth's "Kool Thing." As long as that last particular track isn't some type of clerical error or bizarre non-game inclusion, that means gamers can expect to rock out with their "Kool Thing" when Guitar Hero III arrives on PC, PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and Mac later this year.

Wait, scratch that. Make "later that year" Sunday, October 28, if the music publication is to believed.

But wait, there's more. Billboard claims a code included with the soundtrack CD will enable owners of the Neversoft-developed Xbox 360 edition to acquire three new tracks from Xbox Live Marketplace: AFI's "Carcinogen Crush," Flyleaf's "Tina," and a remix of Marilyn Manson's "Putting Holes in Happiness" by Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zinner.

Shacknews has contacted Activision and RedOctane for confirmation of these details. We also inquired if the tracks will be made available outside of the CD purchase and if PlayStation 3 gamers will be able to partake in the download extravaganza, but have yet to hear back.
