Evening Reading

So today as part of the local area's United Way Day of Caring, myself and a bunch of other people from work went down to the local Boys and Girls club and completely re-vamped their computer lab. We had no idea what we were in for O.o Most of their machines were pentium 2 slot As or original Celerons. We have 6 new machines we are donating next week, but as a stop gap we picked the best of the machines(including 4 unused G3 imacs! and one G4 imac) then stripped all the usable parts out of the leftover crap and put them into the good machines to salvage them.

By teh time we were done we had 12 machines, all running windows XP or Mac OS X, fully loaded with office, child filters, account control, and high speed internet access. the rest of the crap we loaded up into a big truck and carried back to our warehouse to be disposed of environmentally. All in all a great day and I feel really good for what we did for them despite it being one hell of a pain in the ass :D
