But seriously, we talked at qcon. Like I said then, you guys know what you are doing. Don't bend to the will of the idiotic masses and just keep on delivering what you guys know is right. If I was in charge of the shack, it would have died sometime around 1999.

The only thing I can think of is some kind of "welcome to the shack" training level. It never ceases to amaze me at how many new people we get in that forget to check the filters, don't read the rules, use ubb formating, say dnf won't own, think that I'm a mod, etc. I've had enough friends that have seen me on the shack, wondered what it was, checked it out and gotten so confused by it that they never went there again. Granted these guys are very much NOT the core audience, but I figure there has to be a better way to let people know how to get involved and that they can! I have 80k+ posts that prove you don't have to really have something to say to say it here.

Congrats and good going, Mr. Community Manager, Sir. Here's my thoughts.... I miss the shackmeet page and how much good it did to help with organizing and participating in community events.

Much to my sadness and surprise... it's been down since before Quakecon.

We'll soon be getting into the holiday season and it sure would be nice if we could organize some shackmeets again the easy way.

kbnerd's got a girlfriend!!! That alone is reason for a shackmeet. Pretty soon she's gonna swoop his buns all the way down south to Houston.

I was going to suggest that the Shack get regional and have some different chatties (or planners?) for certain areas of the country -- so as to better plan Shackmeets?

It would have to be independent of the usual chatty. And it would be a lot of work to monitor. And it has bro-rape written all over it.
