Tabula Rasa Launching October 19

11
At an Austin press event last night, NCSoft announced that the sci-fi MMORPG Tabula Rasa will launch October 19. People who pre-order will get to play the game three days earlier, on October 16.

Originally announced back in 2001, the Richard Garriott-helmed project underwent a radical change several years into development, transforming from a fantasy role playing game to the combat-focused sci-fi game it is today.

I've been in the beta for this for a while. I don't think it will take the gaming world by storm, but it's not a bad game by any stretch.

It will prolly turn into another Auto Assault or City of Heroes, only die hard fans will stick with it.

I tried it out as well, but it felt like it lacked a lot of polish. It may be worth checking out in 6 months or so if they patch it well.

My opinion: Its EQ with guns...IN SPACE!

I have been in the beta for a few months and the game is "meh." The Bane are a cheap Covenant ripoff, the way weapons are used makes no sense, and most of all it is just the same MMO grind we have seen since EQ.

There's no actual in space to it is there? It looks like WoW with guns, completely with kiling silly creatures in forests.

agreed. it fills a niche that needs to be addressed. People who want something easy and fun to play that has some depth but doesnt require a huge investment in time. It also fills the desire for something that isn't rooted in traditional high Fantasy. If players go into it with reasonable expectations they'll enjoy themselves. If they are looking for the next "Big thing" then they'll be disappointed.
