Nerjyzed Brings the Black College Football Xperience to PC (Updated)
by Steve Gibson and Nick Breckon, Sep 05, 2007 1:23pm PDTNerjyzed Entertainment--self-described as an African American-owned digital entertainment company--today announced an Unreal Engine 3-powered football simulation titled Black College Football Xperience. Licensing three football conferences within the sphere of Historically Black Colleges and Universities--the SWAC, SIAC, and CIAA--Black College Football Xperience will feature more than 40 teams, with play-by-play commentary, realistic stadiums, bands, and mascots. "Nerjyzed Entertainment was founded by a veteran team whose mission is to create positive interactive products for the urban market," said Nerjyzed CEO Jacqueline Beauchamp. Nerjyzed's game joins the growing list of alternatives to Electronic Arts' Madden NFL franchise, including 2K Sports' All Pro Football and NaturalMotion's Backbreaker. Black College Football Experience is set to be released on November 23 for PC. Shacker Ajax has been contacted for futher comment. Update: Shacker Ajax has chimed on the announcement, offering his generally negative take on Nerjyzed's move into the "urban" football arena. "It looks like someone wanted to make another football game," said the gaming expert to Shacknews. "I guess that was one of the few licenses left. Not that that's a bad thing, but it just kind of seems like they were running out of leagues to cash in on. "I wish them the best. I just don't think BCFX is going to have the same kind of draw some of the other football games have," continued Ajax. "It's such an established and entrenched market, and the major players have already secured their audiences."

Nerjyzed held a job fair Friday afternoon [April 2006] at its offices in the Bon Carre Business Center. The company plans to select 20 people for on-the-job training in the key disciplines of video game software development. After the year of training is completed, those employees would do much of the work in programming for the companys initial slate of games.
