Sony: White is Coming (as a PS2 with SingStar)
by Chris Remo, Aug 29, 2007 5:08pm PDTKeeping its perennial seller PlayStation 2 fresh, Sony Computer Entertainment America today announced plans to bring the ceramic white limited edition model of the machine, previously available only in Europe and Japan, to North America. Bundled with the console will be SCE London Studio's karaoke game SingStar Pop, released in North America this April, along with two microphone controllers. The whole shebang will retail for $149.99 (CA$159.99) when it hits store shelves in November. The package is part of an ongoing effort on Sony's part to expand the market of its successful console to as wide an audience as possible, even as it focuses most of its development efforts on PlayStation 3. "With our expansive library of titles for PlayStation, led by social gaming experiences such as SingStar, and Buzz!, we have an incredible offering for first-time gaming families," said SCEA president Jack Tretton.
