Fixed the problem I was having in Bioshock (Steam). Just verified cache integrity, and it re-downloaded some files. It fixed it.

Mine's in a constant loop right now: launch -> find update -> download for 5 minutes -> launch -> verify -> find update -> download 5 minutes -> verify -> launch

Quite annoying (this is actually for CS:S though :( )

I had to go to Microsoft's site and download some august release of dx10, which of course wasn't in the steam install =\ Had to search hours to figure that out.

Wouldn't play an audio log, it was busted. So it kept on...not playing any subsequent audio logs.

So when I fixed it, it played like...8 audio logs ina row, and now it's all working.

Yeah, it all just slid out at the end, though. I was relieved.

weird. i heard some reports that audio data for the game hadn't downloaded completely for some, leading to missing voices and stuff. the fix was to verify cache files through steam i think.

all in all people are collectively having a lot of audio problems over on the 2k forums (myself included but i'm doing my best not to bitch about it and shall just wait for a fix...)

my problem was the game wouldn't start. I'd get the splash screen, followed by a black screen. I'd have to alt-ctl-delete to get back to the desktop.

I did many safe-mode uninstall/reinstall of the nvidia 8800 drivers for vista to no avail. Somehow the DX10 update got removed (maybe by a system restore I had to do for unrelated reasons).
