Sega Unveils VIKING: Battle For Asgard

Sega Europe and Sega of America today revealed VIKING: Battle for Asgard, the latest title from Medieval 2: Total War (PC) and Spartan: Total Warrior (PS2) developer Creative Assembly.

Described in the accompanying documentation as "a new iconic gaming hero" and "a plaything of the gods rebelling against their selfish agenda," lead character Kratos Skarin is tasked with stopping the Goddess Hel, who has assembled a massive army of undead warriors in hopes of bringing about Ragnarok--basically the Norse apocalypse. Along the way, Skarin will unleash "a visceral wave of slaughter" on his reanimated foes.

"Skarin is a cutting edge hero in a fantastic re-imagining of Norse mythology," explained Sega Europe marketing director Gary Knight. "Skarin is obviously a very dangerous man. Add in his inner conflict, a confused heritage and a growing distrust of the Gods and you have the makings of gamingÂ’s next great hero."

VIKING: Battle For Asgard arrives on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in early 2008.

"lead character Kratos Skarin is tasked with stopping the Goddess Hel" haha, yeah, it couldn't be any more of a rip from that concept, but even still, it could be fun to run around in Norse mythology. That is my favorite part about the GoW series, be exposed to the whole greek mythology again.

oh, and you may want to fix "has has", Chris.
