Dyack: Too Human in 2008, Playable Demo Soon

6
After news broke that developer Silicon Knights was serving licensor Epic Games with a lawsuit over its Unreal Engine 3, the state of Silicon's third-person action title Too Human (X360) was called into question. Now Silicon Knights founder Denis Dyack appears to have posted on the fan site TooHuman.net, claiming that development of the game is under control.

"It is always darkest before the dawn. Too Human will be out in 2008. A firm date with tons of new info is coming soon," reads the brief post. "This will be followed up with a playable demo. The demo will speak for itself."

Considering the recent legal battle, and the long history of Too Human's development, some fans aren't holding their breath. The game began its life as a PlayStation title, shown at E3 in 1999, before being converted into a GameCube project. Following the end of Silicon Knights' partnership with Nintendo, the game was put on hold, until the company announced in 2005 a deal with Microsoft to publish an Xbox 360 version.

According to the lawsuit against Epic, Too Human is now utilizing a new engine that Silicon Knights refers to as an "enhanced" version of Unreal Engine 3, unoriginally dubbed the "The Silicon Knights Engine." The game's opening cinematic was released coinciding with this year's E3.

I love the concept, and enjoyed the gameplay video. So I guess, yeah I do. Not to mention that Twin Snakes and Eternal Darkness were both pretty great games.

I am just to see how it all turns out. 4 player co-op is interesting also.

I like everything that I have heard and seen about it so far except for that trailer they released at E3. The animations and art looked very underwhelming.

eh, if the gameplay is solid, the art can take a hit.

I thought it looked pretty good, just needs polish.

Plus seeing that machine grab someone and put it into a grinder that was in it's chest - I have high hopes for this because that was fuckin cool.

I kind of care because SK had great games in the past, but all of the media I've seen about this game leads me to believe it'll suck.

I care, though not as much after what they showed at E3. I liked the setting and the ideas they had (4 player coop!), but all signs point to a flop at this point. If they can deliver on all their ideas it just may be a good time though.

Every thing I've heard or read about the game seems awesome. Everything I have seen of it looks awful.
