Perfect multiplayer FPS map?

I'm not too experienced with recent games, but I'll submit that Q2DM1 - The Edge is about as perfect as these sorts of things can get. Share your favs.

Main PC boots/POSTs but turns itself off within a minute or two. BIOS shows temps/5v/12v ok, all fans working. i get windows partially booted sometimes, other times only 2 sec, then boom. it's not crashing so much as just powering off. there was a pwr outage yesterday (clocks blinking) and i didn't bother to reboot til now.

so i started back to school today, and i finally understand just how exactly it was that Apple became an empire. i mean jesus! this school where im going is a freaking Apple strong hold! all, and every single one of the teachers has a macbook, as well as a iMac. they have projector systems from apple, the media center (the library) has literally 30 iMacs in it. the math and english departments dont even have their projectors yet! Apple has gotten a fortune from them, and gets a little bit more every year. the tech support alone is like $700 a week]/i! wow. and soon they are trying to get a cart to pile 20 or 30 macs on, so they can wheel them around, and everyone who doesn't have a laptop can use one. all for a nominal fee of course... jesus...

here's a question for you multiple monitor menz. (attn: rosewood)

I just scored an older sceptre 19" LCD panel. I want to hook it up to my gaming rig to have "spare" desktop area.. you know - a place to surf the shack while playing WoW or somewhere to dump Winamp, or leave remote desktop running so I can monitor a work related download, etc. etc.

However - with my 8800 I only have the option to span my desktop horizontally or vertically, and it forces the resolution down to the lowest common denominator - 1280x1024 which is the highest the sceptre will support.

So... do I have to get a separate video card to do what I want here? I don't care about spanning the desktop across monitors. I just want a spare, independant monitor to run other apps on that I need to check from time to time.

Price difference between pc and console gaming in a 5-6 year life span.

Computer
-You can now get a gaming computer equipped with a 8800gts and a core duo/quad cpu for 1500ish.
-If you don't already have a screen, it will cost you between 200-300$ to get a new one.
-Online play is free
-That will last you about 2 years for high quality graphics settings and another 2-4 years

Console
-A console cost you 349$ for a 360 or 499$ for a ps3. (let's exclude the wii..)
-If you wan't to have HD graphics, you need to spend from 1000-2000$ to get a HDTV.
-Games cost 10$ more. Let's say you buy around 10 games a year for the 5-6 year that you are going to use it, that would be 400-500$ more that you spend on games.
-Online play cost 50$ a year, again for a 5-6 year life span, that would be around 250-300$ for 360, free for ps3.

Now, people will say they already have HDTV so it's better to buy a console. The same goes for PC, some already owns a PC and they don't need to upgrade everything.

Epic partners with gamespy to bring PS3 to PC cross platform play in UT3. So now the PS3 UT3 has mod support, mouse support, and the ability to play with friends on the PC version. I really hope this is a sign of things to come with the PS3, and it forces MS to do the same and finally open up the 360 a bit.

I think I'm going to buy one - I had a brief use of one in the Dot-com boom and having one in the hotel room at Quakecon just reminded me of how long you can sit in one of them without feeling uncomfortable. Which isn't really the case with my current chair at work.

For the n00bs: to play with us, you need the eDuke32 source port for Duke Nukem 3D, and the Dukonnector program which allows us to actually join this shit. Atomic Edition is preferred, but you can still play with us using an older version, but you can't play on any of the Atomic maps.

Wrapping up my post about my audio problems last night, I stopped by a local shop to pick up an HDA XPlosion 7.1. I was a little hesitant at first but the owner offered to drop it by $10 so I ended up paying only $90 for the thing.

And what do you know, straight after the driver install my DTS and DD output is working perfectly. I haven't given the rest of the settings much of a shot yet, but I can't wait to get around to it.

As much as I loved my Riviera sometimes you just have to move on.
