EA Announces Command & Conquer 3 Expansion: Kane's Wrath

19
Last night on the first Command & Conquer BattleCast, Electronic Arts announced the first expansion pack for Command & Conquer 3, subtitled Kane's Wrath.

The core addition to the game comes in the form of a new "global domination meta-game," described as "Risk on steroids" by producer Jim Vassella. The player will move their armies around a global map, and upon collision with the enemy, the game will shift to a standard C&C match. Upon exiting the match, the remnants of your army will persist in the game world, as in a game like Creative Assembly's Rome: Total War.

In addition to the campaign map, a new radial interface will be brought over to both the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game. The interface allows the player to manage a base from any point on the map, assigning queues on the fly.

As far as standard additions go, each faction will now feature two sub-factions, which come with new units, upgrades, powers, and structures. Online play will also be bolstered with over two dozen maps.

"As the title suggests, Kane's Wrath is all about Kane, and the rise of NOD following the second Tiberium War, taking the player through the third Tiberium War and beyond," said producer Jim Vassella. The campaign will feature live-action cinematics as before, with Joseph Kucan reprising his role as Kane.

"We've been really listening to the fans. We've been looking at the forums. We want to implement as much of your ideas as possible. We've been doing it all throughout development on this," added Vassella.

The Xbox 360 version will be launching simultaneously with the PC version, although no time-frame was given. For a closer look, check out the video.

"funner" is an excellent word, my home-schooled friend. imho, i think that once you get past having to pay more attention to stratagy in this version, it's actually a lot more fun than generals. It's got a higher learning curve to be good though...

Has there been a mod yet that slows down the game (e.g. in terms of unit build times, etc.)?

not that i know of. I thought it was a bit fast at first myself, but once you figure out the best basic stratagies, it really isnt that fast. It is easy to cue up most of your base at once with the menu tabs. Building 1 extra construction arm will make you life so much easier and the base building quicker.

i don't want to be picky, but as you made fun of "funner", does "stratagie" actually exist? Maybe "US-english"?
