by Steve Gibson, Aug 06, 2007 7:14am PDTEA and Namco Bandai have announced this morning the shipping date for Hellgate: London. October 31 is the day of choice. Bill Roper states in the press release, "We wanted to hit the sweet-spot for release in terms of the development schedule and delivering the highest-quality game to our players." You can take a look at our Hellgate: London preview by Nick Breckon, who got a chance to see the game just a few weeks ago. - Most of you will end up buying it.
- Many of you that do buy it will pay the monthly fee.
- You will all enjoy it immensely despite your dark, cynical, jaded hearts.
This is the updated Diablo 2 the world has been begging for for 10 years... these comments are going to look pretty silly in another 10 years when people are still playing Hellgate: London.
For those complaining that is just a whack whack repeat game, what the hell do you think hack&slash stands for?Diablo and titan quest are just like that and it is pure mindless fun.

I can't find any mention of this on the hellgate website. I'm curious as I heard a rumor of a OS X client, so I would like to confirm...
Monthly fees,
DirectX 10 engine which will probably run like crap on my system...
I think I'll pass, but if they release a demo I'll check it out.

But in the last few months the game has started to look a little better and I think my excitement level, at least, has gone back up. I'm not sure I'll be buying it the first week or so but I'll probably pick it up eventually. (And if it was on Steam I'd pick it up even sooner.)

I don't plan to pay a sub, and I don't expect it to effect the game very much, if at all honestly. I just want a dungeon crawler to blast through and put away.
I may not even touch multiplayer, I found the community a huge turnoff in Diablo and Diablo II, and basically just blasted through those two games solo, as strange as that may seem to some people.
I don't know what to think of it anymore
I'll be waiting to hear peoples impressions, this is no longer a day one purchase
looks totally generic and uninspired
