Activision today sent along official word of 11 new tracks for the upcoming Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (PS2, PS3, X360, Wii), confirming last week's reports that Red Hot Chili Peppers, Iron Maiden, ZZ Top, and Dragonforce songs would be in the game.

The revealed songs include master track recordings of AFI's "Miss Murder," "Through Fire and Flames" by Dragonforce, "Number of the Beast" from Iron Maiden, Queens of the Stone Age's "3's and 7's," "Suck My Kiss" of Red Hot Chili Peppers fame, "Raining Blood" by Slayer, and The Strokes' "Reptillia."

Additionally, the following songs appear in the form of "as made famous by" covers performed by Wave Group: Black Sabbath's "Paranoid," "Cities on Flame" by Blue Oyster Cult, "Mississipi Queen" from Mountain, and ZZ Top's "La Grange."

Today's announcement brings the total number of known Guitar Hero III tracks to 26, with the majority of tracks performed by the original artists.

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is slated for release in October. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions are being developed by Neversoft, while Vicarious Visions is developing the Wii iteration and Budcat is tackling the PlayStation 2 edition. I think the AFI song is called "Miss Murder", not "Mass Murder."

Right you are -- I had it correct in the overall track list, at least :)
