Halo 3 Features 4 Player Online Co-op (Updated/Reorganized)
by Chris Faylor, Jul 31, 2007 2:32pm PDTBungie's highly anticipated Xbox 360 shooter Halo 3 will feature four-player cooperative play via Xbox Live or System Link when it launches on September 25. "Split-screen co-op is as ever, limited to two players per screen," wrote Bungie's Luke Smith on the developer's official site, "but they can if they wish join two other friends online or via System Link." Entries in Bungie's massively successful Halo franchise have previously been limited to two player offline co-op. The exclusion of online co-op in Halo 2 has been a continual source of outrage for the fan community, and comments made by Bungie's Frank O'Connor in the latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly initially suggested that Halo 3 could follow in that tradition. To distinguish the numerous players in Halo 3, each is assigned a character with a unique appearance and starting weapon but the same overall abilities. The first player takes control of series protagonist Master Chief, whereas the the second handles Halo 2's co-star, the Arbiter. Joining the Arbiter are two other Elites sympathetic towards humanity--N'tho Sraom and Usze 'Taham--controlled by players three and four. Bungie supplied an image of the four-person team along with a new screenshot of single player. "The combinations and scenarios are endless," Smith continued, "and you'll be able to enjoy them time and time again in Saved Films of your co-op exploits."

I love the ellites, so Im a happy dolt.
I remember I was all excited to play co-op in Halo after playing the single player for so long, I knew all of the enemies and locations.
I'd be like "Okay hang back then you take the right flank and I'll run for the dropship and then take the sniper and camp by that tower and blah de blah de blah" and the next thing I knew the guy was running straight smack into the middle of the covenant. No tactics, no teamwork, just chaos.
It was fun to play Gears with these guys because I'd take cover and they'd run straight at the Locust and get creamed. "This game suX!"

Oh FUCK yes. Not enough online coop games allow for 2 local players to join forces with players online. I was wanting this in DOA4 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance so bad.
Bravo Bungie. You've got my money.

Is it 4 360's can synch up and co-op?
Or is it 2 360's with 2 on each box can co-op together?
