At least some games came out this week, huh? I want to pick up Civ IV: Beyond the Sword, but that'll be a whole weekend gone, and I need to get some more Tabula Rasa action in. Anyone who's in the beta, look me up under Ratso Fatso. I haven't played much, so I'll probably just slow you down and shoot you in the head a lot, but it might be some fun times.

Today is bizzaro Bytes day: Jay Mohr in the spotlight, Bollywood video games on the rise, and some peculiar Dungeon Runners advertising.

  • Jay Mohr hosting BlizzCon

    [pc]

Blizzard today revealed that comedian and actor Jay Mohr (The Brave Little Toaster to the Rescue, Go) will be hosting the opening and closing night festivities at next weekend's BlizzCon in Anaheim, California. I can only hope he brings a better set than Jamie Kennedy.

  • Final Fantasy XI has a festival too

    [pc]

Attendees will be the first to play Winges of the Goddess, the fourth FFXI expansion. 1500 tickets will be made available, each costing $85. More details on the official site.

    [pc] [ps3] [xbox360]

Midway Chicago's actioner Stranglehold has been set for release on August 27, for the PC and Xbox 360. • Bollywood turns games into ads

ZDNet brings us the story of how one company is creating 3D games based on Indian movies for the purposes of marketing. The popular Burger King Xbox 360 "Advergames" are cited as examples of successful promotional games. The three $3.99 games--Sneak King, Pocketbike Racer, and Big Bumpin'--eventually sold over 3.2 million copies combined. What.

  • NCsoft releases sketchy Dungeon Runners ad

    [pc]

Finally, we end this ridiculous issue of News Bytes with a fitting brochure from Dungeon Runners developer NCsoft.

Like a dead body in the room nextdoor, I really have nothing to say about it. You all have to look for yourselves.

How is Tabula Rasa so far? Can you say or is there an NDA?

I've never seen an NDA that prevents you from saying whether the game is good or not (or maybe I suck at reading them).

Seriously, the world wants to know! Is it good?

Its a lot of fun if you enjoy shooters and RPG's. Not too much of a learning curve and you can enjoy it in small bites.

I'm actually leaving the beta so I dont burn it out come realease.
