Wing Commander Arena Heading to XBLA
by Nick Breckon, Jul 23, 2007 10:07am PDTElectronic Arts today revealed that Gaia Industries' 2D-perspective space shooter Wing Commander Arena is hitting Xbox Live Arcade later this week. A spin-off of the original Wing Commander franchise, Arena offers fast-paced, arcade-style combat for up to 16 players online. A single player mode is also supported. Arena comes with eight maps covering three styles of play: team, free for all, and dueling. Modes such as Capital Ship--where players must help defend one of two battling motherships--spice up the action. A ship customization system allows players to put a personal touch on their Terran or Kilrathi craft, in the form of fighter attributes and weapons loadouts. Wing Commander Arena will be available for download this Wednesday, for the price of 800 Microsoft Points ($10).

Reminds me of that net game we played a few years back on PC that played exactly like this only from a less 3d angle.
