Tekken 6 May Feature Online Multiplayer on PS3

8
Namco Bandai today announced that its upcoming fighter sequel Tekken 6 would support online multiplayer when it makes its way to the PlayStation 3, claims Japanese gaming publication Impress Watch. According to the site, the developer made the announcement at Sony's PlayStation Premiere event in Tokyo and noted that the fighter will be brought to the PS3 within a year of its arcade release, which is expected this holiday season.

Tekken 6 will supposedly feature many new, unannounced modes in addition to simple online combat. Reports of online play in Tekken 6 come as little surprise, as plans for online upgrades to the PlayStation 3 version of Namco's Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection were revealed last month. Shacknews has inquired to Namco Bandai for confirmation of these details.

Along with the news of online play, the site posted three new screenshots of Tekken 6, though it failed to specify whether they were taken from the PlayStation 3 or arcade version.

Tekken is (still) old and busted. Soul Calibur is (still) the new hotness.

Soul Caliber is button mashing. Tekken is skill, finesse and timing.

Tekken invented the dial-a-combo. that is not finess. I can't speak for Soul Calibur 3, as I never got it, but Soul Calibur 1 and 2 can, and should, be fought at a high level that button mashers won't stand a chance. Obviously you never reached that level, so when 4 comes online, I will play you and you will find it pretty damn hard to beat me at all with mashing.

Also Tekken (at least the earlier ones) had stupid nonsense like some characters having counters and others not.

yea but from tekken 3 on any character could counter a counter. i used to love throwing out stupid moves so people would think they were getting easy damage from a counter only to piss them off when they were chickened.

yes because 10-hits are of any use in tekken, almost every hit it a high block usually except for one of the later hits. and if we were to play, i guarentee you that i would deal out more damage to you mashing in soul calibur than you would me mashing tekken.. mashing is much easier in soul caliber than tekken minus the retarded capoeira characters like eddy and christy.

not that physics are completely accurate, but everything FEELS more fluid in Soul Calibur. Horizontal and Vertical attacks give you those moves, kicks are kicks, and the gravity isn't all floaty. Countering is much more intuitive in SC, and if anybody has more ability to button mash in SC, Its because of the entry level is far more accessible due to a superior fighting engine (There is a reason that both SC 1 and 2 are considered some of the best games ever, regardless of genre, something that tekken can't say). Buttons do what you expect them too. That doesn't mean that I won't perfect your noob ass if you come at me button mashing, because I will, but you will have more fun as a beginner.

You speak the gospel fucking truth, sir. Anyone who plays fighting games at a high level (we're talking tournaments here) knows that Soul Caliber is a shallow piece of shit compared to Tekken. And I like Soul Caliber.
