i just got a new phone from cingular because i renewed my contract. do i really have to activate this thing or can i just stick the sim card from my old phone in it and be good to go (my old phone works fine)?

If you could have any job in the world, what would it be? Assume that the pay would be sufficient to provide for whatever style of life you had planned for your future, including kids, significant others, etc.

I think I would be either a park ranger at Denali or Yellowstone, or a member of the grass cutting crew at Fenway Park.

APF 2k8 roll call!

Let's get this season thing started. Who's got the game and who wants in the season?

Also, I asked this last night but got no response. Who would be interested in doing a fantasy draft for the league? There are enough star players to fill out 18 full teams with no overlap of players. I think it would be cooler if we all had different players rather than everyone having the same core group.

so we're now testing the new fileshack delivery system for mercury members. we'll be starting out by offering selected files that we know are high levels of demand.

So, exciting times. Any NYC Shackers doing anything on July 24?

I'm taking the Washington Deluxe (lol) from DC to NY on the 24th. I'm not entirely sure what I'll be doing that night, but I don't think it will be too wild, since our 25th is going to be booked pretty solid. So, if there is interest in doing something small and boring, I'll be down. I'm not entirely sure where I'll be staying yet, but some people that I am meeting there have family in the area. The reason for the trip is a bit more exciting. A friend of mine got chosen to be on the new show Power of 10, and I'm going to the taping. That's pretty much going to monopolize the 25th, and I'm leaving the 26th. However, I know the NYC people are pretty active when it comes to meeting, so I was just testing the interest. I'm not positive I'll be able to do something yet and I don't want to sell anyone out.

Movie post

I love movies, however I'm really bad at deciding what is a 'good' movie vs a 'bad' movie. I tend to enjoy most movies I watch (not all of them) but most of them, which is is why I never recommend movies to people.

I just watched The Transporter for the first time, off of a Shack Recommendation, and thought it was awesome. The actions and stunts were over the top in a really fun way. The fight scene with all the grease was highly entertaining. The only part I didn't care for was the parachuting onto the cargo trucks I'm not sure why but that bothered me for some reason (I know, out of everything I could complain about, but whatever). Is the second one worth watching as well? This guy should be Agent 47 in Hitman

(I also watched Reanimator today and enjoyed it a lot too)

Music Menz

Two questions. First, I need some new headphones. I would prefer to have some noise cancelling ones for use at home and then some earbuds for when I'm out and about. They need to be able to stay in my ear when I'm jogging or biking, recommendations would be much appreciated.

Second, how is Garage Band and its addon packages? Once I have my Macbook, I want to get back into making beats and trance/synthwork. I used to be pretty hardcore into Fruity Loops, but that was ages ago. I'd like to start up again and Garage Band sounds like it'd be the less expensive way to go, since my money this year is going towards rent and getting a DSLR.

For me it has to be Jethro Tull. Between that obnoxious/abrasive voice and that silly flute lies some actually quite horrible instrumentation. Aqua Lung is as close as they ever got to recording a good song, but i still think it sucks anyway.

Lots of Shackers are playing The Bigs. More will be playing soon. How exciting!

As such, we are going to be having our first little tournament. Once I get a full list of names I'll put together brackets and times. Here's what I'm thinking:

To advance you must win two out of three games against your opponent and all games will run a full nine innings. You can select any team other than the all-star teams. Home-field advantage will have to decided based on something random (suggestions?) If you have home-field advantage it would be your field, their field, then your field in a deciding game three. The final "world series" game would follow the same best two out of three nine inning format. There won't be specific play times - rather, we'll give everybody two days to complete each round and then report back to me what the result was so I can post up the new brackets for the next round.

Anyway, sounds simple enough although I'm not quite sure what to do if we get an odd number of people wanting to participate. Let's hope for evens.

What the hell, I just got a call from "Bank of America" (my bank) and they wanted to call me about some kind of contract/contact information.

My sister said to google the number they left, and it came up under a "suspicious number list". Anyone experienced anything like this? I'm gonna call my bank now with a number from their website and ask them, but...this is weird.

A few things:

1. Is anyone here experienced with model airplanes? Like the plastic pieces that you have to glue together. If so, I'd like to know some good companies to look for. It completely sucks when you buy a cheap model and the pieces are warped and/or barely fit together.

2. I need suggestions for activities. Playing Guitar Hero 2, watching Flight of the Conchords, and drinking nice beers is getting kinda old. I need some suggestions.

3. Has there been much discussion about Uncharted: Drake's Fortune? http://www.gametrailers.com/player/22316.html It looks awesome. Between this, LittleBigPlanet, Warhawk, and so on, PS3 looks like it'll have some potentially really nice games on tap.

4. What is the advantage to having an EE in the current PS3s versus emulating the chip in future revisions?

I think that's all I got right now.
