Katamari Creator's PS3 Project Revealed
by Chris Faylor, Jul 17, 2007 8:04am PDTNamco Bandai has unveiled the first details on the latest project from Katamari Damacy creator Keita Takahashi. Titled Nobi Nobi Boy, the PlayStation 3 game apparently features a lengthy, worm-like protagonist who can twist around himself and other objects. Takahashi, a formally trained artist, famously expressed frustration with Namco's handling of the series he created, decrying the video game industry's emphasis on constant sequels over newly developed material. He resisted taking part in the sequel Everybody Loves Katamari, but relented when Namco threatened to release the game as a quick rehash. Since then he has refused to participate in development on further Katamari games. Today's news marks the first indication as to the identity of Takahashi's post-Katamari projects. Nobi Nobi Boy is currently only known to be in development for the PlayStation 3. No other information, such as further gameplay details or a release date, has been revealed. Shacknews has sent inquiries to Namco Bandai for a response on the matter.

Wow, that's pretty cold.
No wonder some of the reports from E3 were that the new Katamari game looked like more of the same...
