Orcs & Elves DS Announced
by Maarten Goldstein, Jul 12, 2007 11:52am PDTElectronic Arts today announced that id Software's fantasy RPG franchise Orcs & Elves is coming to the Nintendo DS. Originally developed by Fountainhead Entertainment for mobile phones, which will receive Orcs & Elves II, the DS version of the first person tactical role playing game will feature better graphics and more levels, items and monsters. "Orcs & Elves was a perfect fit for the DS," said John Carmack, founder and technical director at id Software, "We were able to take excellent advantage of the 3D hardware and unique user input capabilities, and expand the game to include a lot of wonderful features that we just couldn't fit on the cell phones. Orcs & Elves II is a polished gem of a game for the mobile platforms, opening up new parts of the world to explore, while carrying forward and improving all the elements that were loved about the original game." Orcs & Elves will ship this holiday season.

I'm sure they could prove me wrong and I hope they do, but the name already makes it sound boring to me.

Reminds me of the old RPGs like (the dungeon parts of) The Bards Tale on the C64/Amiga (the original Bards Tale, not the more recent and completely different version) and Dungeon Master on the Amiga. O&E and Doom RPG both worked really well on phones.
