E3 07: Konami Unveils Silent Hill 5

During its E3 2007 press conference, Konami announced that Silent Hill 5 is in development for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3

Konami confirmed previous reports of a fifth main entry in its avant-garde horror Silent Hill series at the company's E3 press conference in Santa Monica. The title will be available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

"Working on these systems allows us to push the envelope of technology and bring the town to life like never before," said William Oertel, producer at Konami Digital Entertainment. "You will take on the role of Alex Shepherd, a soldier returning from a tour of duty overseas." As Alex, you'll arrive in the town of Silent Hill to look for your missing younger brother. Konami said Alex will make use of his military training to fend off the grotesques of the ill-fated town.

Famed series composer Akira Yamaoka will be returning to create an all-new soundtrack for the game.

Konami announced another game in the series, Silent Hill Origins, last year for the PlayStation Portable.

sweet. Silent Hill is underrated imo. I enjoy it more than Resident Evil even. I played the 2nd one a long time ago but couldn't get into it. But a year or so ago I got into the 4th game and it got me hooked. Beat them in backwards order...4, 3, then 2. Never got to play the first one. Can't wait for Silent Hill 5.

but here is a screenshot!!!! http://media.1up.com/media?id=3347151

That doesn't really look much better than the PS2 games. Hopefully it will look better in motion.

Make sure to play the first Silent Hill. It is no worse than the second-best in the series.

ya peeps on a silent hill forum are crying about the screenshot thinking it looks ugly. Think some of them think it is fake. I dunno. Looks alright to me but all I know is that the PS2 Silent Hills are gorgeous...some of the best looking PS2 games I've ever played.
